Songwriter Workshop

  • Art House North 793 Armstrong Avenue West Saint Paul, MN, 55102 United States (map)

Join us at Art House North in St. Paul, MN for our annual songwriter workshop! Writers of all capacities are welcome - vocational songwriters, hobbyists, and those rediscovering or awakening a new passion. The workshop includes a few esoteric ideas about why following the creative impulse is good for us, and then practical songwriting conversations, writing practices, live music, a conversation about the ‘artist disposition,’ and feedback groups. We will close our time with a concert by Cindy Morgan (your registration includes two tickets to the concert). The food is good, the company is interesting, and people tend to have a great time.

There will be two feedback groups - the first will be with a mentor and about 6-7 people, and will give you an opportunity to share something you have been working on. The second will orient around a songwriting prompt that everyone will receive via email around the first week of Feb (along with a full schedule, hotel recommendations and other notes). The groups are highly supportive! There is also a late night open mic on Friday for the night owls.

The event runs from 1:00pm on March 21st, and closes with a concert on Saturday night, the 22nd.

And a special announcement from Sara:

It is sweet to think about a group of folks I haven’t met yet, assembling at Art House North to talk about the craft of songwriting, and I am over the moon to announce that our guest instructor this March will be the one and only Cindy Morgan! A two-time GRAMMY® nominee, a 14-time Dove winner, and recipient of the prestigious Songwriter of the Year trophy, Cindy recently won the 2024 Hollywood Independent Music Award for her single “Jubilee (featuring Tommy Sims).”

Cindy has 21 number one radio hits to her credit, and has penned songs for notable artists including David Archuletta, Vince Gill, India.Arie, TJ Shepherd, Rascal Flatts, Ricky Skaggs, Amy Grant, Glen Campbell, Mandisa, Natalie Grant, Michael W. Smith, Point of Grace, Brandon Heath, Britt Nicole, Sandra McCracken, Josh Garrels, Sierra Hull, Kris Allen, and EchoSmith among many others.

Space is limited for the workshop. We look forward to this weekend together!
