Are you a person who is drawn to words, images, and stories? Would you like to jumpstart your writing life in the company of fellow wordsmiths? This workshop is for people who desire to deepen and explore their writing skills in a supportive atmosphere. This six-week course is aimed at beginning and intermediate writers (though anyone is welcome!). This workshop will seek to encourage your creativity and the stories you have to tell! The course content includes the following:
Tips on good writing technique
Generative writing prompts with feedback
Small and large group discussion
Opportunity for each participant to bring in one piece of writing (a poem or short prose section) for group and instructor feedback
Short meditations on the relationship of faith and writing
This course will be facilitated by Judith Hougen and Brienna Rossiter.
Judith Hougen holds an MFA in Creative Writing and has taught writing for thirty years at the University of Northwestern. She has published a full-length collection of poetry (The Second Thing I Remember) and a spiritual formation book (Transformed Into Fire).
Brienna Rossiter is an editor for Red Line Editorial, a company that produces fiction and nonfiction for young readers, and she loves helping writers refine and polish their writing.
