As the most descriptive book in scripture using movement metaphors and the body as a language of prayer and praise, the Psalms gives us a guide to deepen our own dialogue with God through embodied expressions. Experience an afternoon retreat of workshops designed to practice embodying our faith specifically through lament and joy as we look to the Psalms and respond via visual media, movement, and art journaling.

Introduction to Embodied Prayer
Praying the Psalms Through Art: Guided creative art journaling through Psalm 139
Embodied Prayer & Movement: Looking to the Psalms for movement metaphors of prayer and praise, we will practice gestures and postures that embody the spiritual journey of lament and joy.
Communal Canvas Painting of Lament & Joy: Each participant will have a chance to add to a community canvas using paint and collage to express lament and/or joy.

Founded and directed by Libby John, host of Art & Faith Conversations podcast, and artist partner with Art House North.

Libby John is a multidisciplinary artist in the fields of music, writing, and dance. She earned her B.S. in kinesiology from the University of MN and specializes in teaching modern dance technique and doing freelance choreography. Her work has been performed at the MN Fringe Festival, Project Dance NYC and YWAM School of Dance. In 2018, Libby founded Vivid Artistry Co., an arts collective developing spiritually formative resources through embodied creative expressions via retreats, workshops, a blog, dance, film and live performances. Libby is passionate about helping artists and churches integrate the arts to cultivate a deeper, more embodied Christian faith. She has completed the artist residency program through the Brehm Center of Fuller Seminary and also founded and hosts the podcast, “Art & Faith Conversations,” one of the leading podcast resources for Christian artists. She resides in St. Paul, MN with her husband, 3 teenage daughters, and 2 crazy dogs.
