A night for songwriters to play their original songs and share helpful feedback with one another.
We are limiting the event to 9 people, so please register accordingly.
We can’t wait to hear your song! It can be fully completed or something that still needs some work. Regardless, please bring something substantial enough to have people speak into so that you use your group time well.
TO PREPARE FOR THE NIGHT:
If you choose to re-present a song: If you have a song that you’ve brought in the past to one of our events and have now made adjustments/improvements in connection to people’s feedback, please feel free to re-present the song with its new changes. We’d love to hear it! Of course, please continue to be open to people’s new feedback on your updated version.
Please re-present songs sparingly: You should be presenting new songs more than re-presenting improved songs. Once every 3-4 events would be the idea. And of course, re-presenting a song is completely optional and not necessary.
Try to refrain from re-presenting songs where only minor changes were made: Such as one or two grammatical updates, changing the song title - ha!, or taking out one line. Instead, we’re looking for something more substantial i.e. Re-working several lyrics that change the song’s sense of direction, taking out or adding entire sections, updating the song’s musical bones: melody/tempo/time signature/added instrumental sections, etc.
Please click this to download our Songwriter Guidelines resource. It will give you an idea of what our time will look like together, provide you with small group etiquette, and pointers for peer review.
